Message Customize

The Message Customize plugin allows you to modify the text displayed throughout Redmine’s interface, such as menu items like “Tracker” and “Activity,” and messages within issues. You can customize terminology and messages to fit your business needs or internal language preferences.

With Message Customize, You Can Do the Following

Here is an example of the changes that have been made:

  • Activity → Timeline
  • Calendar → Schedule
  • Subject → Title
  • Tracker → Issue Type

How to use Message Customize

Log in as a user with administrator privileges. Click on “Administration” in the top menu and then select “Message customize”.

Adding a Customization

You can add customizations in either “Normal mode” or “YAML mode”, and any changes made in one mode will automatically appear in the other. Here, we will use “Normal mode” as an example.

Normal Mode

In “Normal mode”, select the term or message you want to change from the list and enter the new text.

  • Click the “Normal mode” tab.
  • Select the desired language from the language dropdown menu.
  • Click on the dropdown menu labeled “Please select the message you want to change.”
  • Enter keywords to filter the options.
  • Click on the term or message you want to change.
  • Enter the new text in the displayed textbox.
  • Click “Save”.

Editing a Customization

  • Enter the new text in the textbox.
  • Click “Save”.

Disabling Customizations

  • Click “Disable customize” to turn off all customizations.

Enabling Customizations

Click “Enable customize” to turn on all customizations.

Deleting a Customization

  • Click the trash can icon next to the customization you want to delete.
  • Click “Save”.
